Simple Ways to Build Your Relationship

Simple Ways to Build Your Relationship

We can all agree that relationships are work. This isn’t an area of life that you can put on autopilot and just coast. Relationships are hard and messy but are 100% worth every effort that you put into them. You can use these suggestions to lay a great foundation with your significant other. Simply. Slowly. Day-by-day.

Communicate throughout the day

Send a sweet text message or chat for a few minutes over lunch.  Put a note in their jacket pocket or email them some encouragement to help them through their day. If the day often gets away from you and this is a challenge, set a reminder to make this a priority.

It was that time again.  I looked at the clock. 5:25- T-minus 5 minutes until dinner time. I take a deep breath and mentally prepare myself for that battle that was about to begin. For the crying, negotiating, and the test of wills that is mealtime with a picky eater.

As a mom, I felt I did everything right up until this point. I made homemade baby food,  gave him lots of options, didn’t force him and he ate great until he was about 18 months, then everything changed. I thought this is a phase it will pass, but one month turned to three, three to six, and I found myself dreading mealtime and wondering how we got here.

Fast-forward to today and our little guy has just turned 3 and while we are still working on his eating habits things have gotten better and we feel that we have turned the corner. Here are some tips and tricks to help you with your picky eater. We are using a lot of these with our son and while they can be time-consuming they do seem to be helping quite a bit.

  • Don’t be afraid to seek help. We made sure that he was ok medically and nutritionally (no deficiencies).  Following that, we sought out advice from an Occupational Therapist. We found out that our son may have some sensory issues that were contributing to his eating habits and she gave us some great advice and steps to take. Most of them are included below.

It has been a little over a year since I received my Instant Pot and boy oh’ boy was it worth it. This handy little kitchen appliance is hands down one of my favorite things! It’s stolen my heart to the point that I said see-ya to my slow cooker and kicked that baby to the curb. Seems like pressure cooker recipes are all the rage right now and for good reason. Pressure cooking creates more flavor while making meats super moist and tender. So let us take back dinnertime one quick meal at a time! Here are a few of the best Instant Pot recipes.

Whole30 Meal Plan- Week 1

Whole30 Meal Plan- Week 1

It’s that time again! The new year is almost here and for some of us, that means a change in eating habits.  This January my husband and I are doing another round of Whole30.  In its’ simplest form Whole30 is a paleo diet with a few more restrictions. You can read more about what is allowed and how to follow the program here.

We have made all these recipes and they are some of our favorite go-to’s. The shopping list that accompanies this meal plan is at the bottom of this post. This plan is created with 2 adults in mind.  All the dinner recipes have serving sizes of 4-8 and we are using leftovers for lunch. Let’s face it, eating Whole30 can be expensive which is why this meal plan is set up the way it is. By utilizing leftovers and using recipes that have common ingredients, the waste is minimized which helps ease the blow to your grocery budget.

Breakfast

I like to keep breakfasts simple, especially when doing a Whole30. The prosciutto egg cups are made in bulk and can be heated as needed.  Pre-slice the sweet potato and keep in the fridge so they are ready to toast.

Sweet potato toast – Be sure to use compliant toppings.

DIY Letter Ornaments

DIY Letter Ornaments

I wanted to share a simple DIY Christmas project I did to elevate my Christmas tree. These DIY letter ornaments are super simple and inexpensive to make. They add a customized look and would be amazing on a tree, stockings, mantle, or even tied onto gifts.  These are SO easy and took me probably 10 minutes!  Crafts like these are my favorite because I know going into it that the project is going to fairly quick and almost foolproof. Sometimes you just need a win, am I right?
